According to Sefaira, the new analysis capability in the Sefaira plugin means architects can easily produce SEPP 65 compliance reports in minutes from Trimble SketchUp or Autodesk Revit software programs at any time in the design process.

Today, more than 500 leading architecture and engineering firms use Sefaira’s daylighting and real-time energy analysis software to design high-performing buildings with better energy and daylighting performance, better occupant comfort, lower construction cost, and lower operating costs.
Matthew Blair, Principal at BVN, one of Australia’s largest architectural practices, says that clients want to know early on if a particular project will meet SEPP 65 requirements.

SEPP 65, an environmental planning policy addressing apartment design in Australia, requires good daylight in residential living spaces (measured as a minimum number of hours of direct sunlight). With Sefaira’s new capability, architects can now generate a full compliance report on SEPP 65 sunlight requirements within their Trimble SketchUp or Autodesk Revit design environments.
“The ease and speed of the Sefaira SEPP 65 reports allows architects to integrate daylight analytics throughout the design workflow, property owners and developers to check designs before council submission and local planning authorities to double check compliance without adding time delays,” stated Kates.
Sefaira opened its Sydney office in 2014 and in the same year launched daylighting analysis. Enhanced daylighting visualisation followed in early 2015. Analysis capabilities include annual daylighting, daylight factor, and time-of-day simulations. Using this powerful suite of tools, architects are able to intentionally design and communicate the quality of light in their buildings.
