As a member of the IAB for SET Ventures, Emma brings specific expertise in ESG and impact investing to investment opportunities and portfolio companies.
Emma currently coordinates all ESG aspects of the investments of Althelia Funds. Althelia is a leading impact-driven asset manager. They are at the forefront of impact investing and currently manage; a Climate Fund and a Sustainable Ocean Fund. These were set up to focus on impact investments that deliver the highest calibre conservation and social improvements, and demonstrate that financial returns can be fully aligned with sound environmental stewardship and social development. Emma currently leads the assessment the environmental and social impacts of projects, and ensuring compliance of portfolio investments with Althelia’s environmental, social and governance standards.
Previously Emma has worked as a scientific researcher on large mammal grassroots community conservation projects in East Africa and Europe, where she studied elephants, lions and brown bears. She has been involved in a variety of research projects assessing human-wildlife conflict and using spatial, biological and bio-economical modelling to explore habitat suitability, population dynamics and policy change, as well as community conservation programmes. She was the lead author of a paper published in the European Journal of Wildlife Research in 2013.
Emma has an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London and a BSc in Zoology from the University of Durham.
